rtc3458g is gkn or should be so either someone was pulling a fast one or you were unlucky or fitted it badly

I bet they came from Paddocks.

RTC3458G | Universal Jnt-No Greaser

What is Paddocks all about , its like they will quite happily rip off their customers through misleading adverts for parts, I don't trust them nor would I ever buy anything from them again.

Original Equipment Manufacturer
This product is manufactured by a company that has either manufactured for Land Rover in the past or is currently manufacturing for Land Rover.

So the G that one would take as Genuine is bull****.

whats wrong with a hardy spicer joint , they do them with grease nipples too,

Its in a Britpart box, whats wrong with selling them in original boxes?
Its a question of trust James, no one trusts britpart nor do some people trust sellers who flog britpart with a number that would suggest a genuine part.

Have a look here,

http://www.paddockspares.com/da6001-filter-kit-def-2-5-na-diesel-and-turbo-diesel.html

Read the description, when I bought this filter kit everything was Britpart, I had my old ones to compare with the the britpart parts were crap , really. So ,
1x ERR3340B Britpart Oil Filter
1x RTC6079 Coopers Fuel Filter
1x NRC9238 Branded Air Filter (e.g. Mahle, Coopers etc)
Is nothing more than a bare faced lie so they can shift britpart rubbish.

hardy spicer is hardy spicer wherever you buy it ,manufacturers dont allways sell bulk parts in boxes, lots trust bp including dealers and most parts retailers, if you cant understand the parts business (especially with non current models)maybe you should pay the extra

They were describes as coopers fuel filter for a start, but it wasn't, its was britpart and the difference in quality was obvious, it leaked, I didn't even try and readjust it in its seating, I threw it in the bin.
So why describe something as coopers when it isn't? It doesn't matter who makes them , it doesn't matter if britpart ask coopers to make x amount of fuel filters (cheaply no doubt) then put their own brand name on them, the fact is its still a britpart filter.

thats your retailers fault ,bp do sell several brands of filter including their own, which arent claimed as cooper, though they do sell them and mahle and gen too

That's why I don't buy from Paddocks anymore.

Another interesting thing I learned today, UJ's , everybody fits GKN thinking that's the same one as Land Rover fitted originally, then I found this.

Australian Land Rover Owners - View Single Post - D2 front drive shaft problem?

Uni joints has obviously come up repeatedly in this thread, and most replace the LR ones with off the shelf 1300 Series Spicer type uni's.
(Hardy-Spicer part # K5-LR4)

This is a bit of a mistake.

The Land Rover uni's, while matching the 1300 Series Spicer in external dimensions, is much beefier in the cross and the needle rollers are longer than the joint listed above, making it at least as strong as a standard 1310 Series Uni.

The Hardy-Spicer # for this uni is K5-A757
The Land Rover # is TVC100010

I've posted these photo's up in various threads, but maybe more people will see them here. (I pinched the photo's from a thread on LR4x4)

Its worth looking at the photos in the link.

Why do Landrover UJ's flog out ?? - Page 2 - Australian Land Rover Owners

defender has 2 types of ujs, normal and hd. the one above is hd.

i think they are getting confused between the two.

you can usually tell due to the hd having a metal bottom rather than rubber

hardy spicer is hardy spicer wherever you buy it ,

No they arnt, Hardy Spicer is an Australian company who don't really make Land Rover parts anymore, the Hardy Spicer props that Land Rover use are made in India under licence to GKN, the Hardy Spicer props that are being sold in the aftermarket market are not the same quality.

That's correct, but when you buy a GKN aftermarket propshaft they will have the none HD UJ fitted, genuine Land Rover props, as fart as I can make out will.
The aftermarket UJ's seem to be built in Japan.
