i ve just went to shut passenger door window off the switch it got three quarter of way up then there was a bang then the window dropped now wont go up or down.
any ideas on what the problem is !

cheers jj

check the fuses, check there is power to the motor, if all ok then the motor is ****ed, if no power to the motor then try the switches(after you have checked the fuses)if its the switch then swap it with the drivers side just to get the window up.if there is no power into the switch then cobble a new supply together so that you can get the window up. if its the motor, then basically at this time on a sunday you are well and truly ****ed ;)

if it went bang and dropped don't that sound more like a mechanical breakage rather than a leecy fault?

Has the glass disappeared into the door?
Might have come out of its "holder" for want of a better word.
you probly find that its rotten

sorry, i dodn't read the dropped bit, i read it as stopped, yes i agree with slob, sounds like the glass has come off the runner, get the panel off, wind the window right down, pick the glass up and then send the window half way up, refit the glass back on the runners and put a block of wood in the top of the window frame, send the window all the way up and it shoulf re seat in the carriage(or holder as mondy says). ;)

same with mine(i blamed my brother as he open'd it) i expect its the bottom glass holder rotted out remove the panel and ballance ontop the close window fully holding it in place...then disconect the switch on the centre console untill replacement...rgds swompy

Feckin nora, it's a bloody competition. The noob oldest fred resurrection game!

Is there a prize?

Possibly a broken window regulator, the 3 welds holding the toothed arm have failed. The bang might have been the toothed section falling down into the door.

Totally agree - mine made a hell of a bang when it went. On the 300 Tdi, there are only three tiny spot welds holding the toothed arm on. Common failure point.
