Hi, wonder if anyone can help.
Landrover Freelander td4 model(2000).

For the last couple of days the passenger door (front) has not been working.:(
It locks via the central locking but wont open with the central locking but can open it from the handle inside.
Anyone know what the problem may be.

Had same prob on Rover 75 the other day, checked wiring, ok, changed latch and everything Ok. 75 has Single Point Entry locking system also. If you know anyone with TESTBOOK , try changing the Dealer Configuration but I suspect it's the latch or the latch connection,( corroded pins.)
 
Its the solenoid on the door. There are two, one locks the other opens. Try a blast of WD40, they tend to freeze up now and then. Replacements from SPAL or Maplins, fraction of dealer price.

Hi, hubby took door panel off today, sprayed it with wd40 and checked wires etc, all seems ok.
May possibly need a new lock!

any other suggestions.

Mine stopped working for 2 months, after a dry autumn. Then bizarrely it started working of its own accord, after posting in one of Ambriel's threads. Maplins are doing them for a tenner, if you dont get it working again.
 
without teaching you to suck eggs, it's not down to the two stage unlock ? would hate you to have a load of effort over summit simple

Hi, we have been on Maplins site and found the door lock system mentioned above.
Just a question, will this be compatible with our Freelander?

Apparently they are the same, only wiring is a diff colour. It was Ambriel who suggested Maplins, Disco Steve had provided a colour coded ref for the SPAL ones. If the wiring are the same then for Maplins/SPAL then piece of cake. If not it wouldnt be too diff to figure it out.
 
I can only speak for the Maplins replacements being compatible with my old Discovery as I haven't had call to try it on the Freelander yet. Came with a whole load of different brackets and stuff so I'd be surprised if they don't fit.
 
Think this is same problem I am having with my drivers door, it locks with the remote but doesnt open.
Do I need the 2 wire or the 5 wire soleniod from maplin ?
 
I think the 5-wire is for the driver's door, whereas the 2-wire is for the others. Presumably the extra wires tell the other doors to lock when the driver's door locks.
 
Have looked at the wiring diagram for the front central locking and 1 side has 5 wires and the other side has 6 wires any ideas ?
 
All CDL servos come or are made by Spal, they are the largest manufacturers of central locking componants. Regardless of what is on it 99% of them will fit.
The only problem is if its on the drivers door and its not the multipoint 5 wire servo and is a 3 wire switch actuatator type. then you cant use the generic type.

On a 5 wire motor the wires are as follows

wire 1 is switch to control box to lock or unlock
wire 2 is switch to control box to lock or unlock
wire 3 is motor ground
wire 4 is pos+ pulse to lock from control box
wire 5 is Pos+ pulse to ulock from control box

wires 4+5 are the ones which you tap into if you want to remote lock the car.
wire 3 can be also 12+ instead of earth and then that makes 4+5 neg locking.

I take it its a case of connecting the original locking rod to the maplins one and then unplugging the original wiring from door lock and connecting to new maplins door lock motor and then making an attachment for the maplins door lock motor to the door skin?

Is that it or have I missed something?
