hi all
any ideas as to why only the passenger side tyre outside edge(first 1") wears away, i fitted new tyres, scorpions, 3,000 miles ago, just before its M.O.T.standard 16" wheels and tyres
 
How about worn track rods as mine has started to drift to the pasenger side and mine has had alignment done and ok. Going to have mine checked out when I've done several other jobs that need doing
 
Hello mate , i had the same problem on my p38 and it turned out to be track rod ends , i replaced both , just to be on the safe side, only cheap, from island 4x4 ... hope this helps.... Rob
 
hi all
phoned, local 4 x 4 specialist, as they were extremely busy with short staff(holiday's)
they suggested , that it could also be ball joint, they suggested going to a tyre place and have 4 wheel tracking checked, which should tell me what was wrong?
how do you check the following:
(1) wheel bearings
(2) track rod ends
(3) v coupling
(4) ball joints
 
hi all
today,i jacked up the front passenger side wheel,with handbrake on, in neutral, tried to turn wheel, no way would it move anywhere, jacked up drivers side as well, wheel then turned easy, with other wheel turning in the opposite direction,
does this deffo mean that the viscous coupling has seized?
no play found anywhere else, on joints, trackrod ends etc
 
With just one front wheel jacked it should be possible to turn it but it wil be VERY hard.
Not being funny, but if you only have one arm I doubt you would be able to turn it with out a lever of some sort. Take the wheel off and put a bar across a couple of the wheel studs with the nuts on to protect the threads, if it still doesn't turn the VCU is seized.

or get a wheel brace on it, saves taking the wheel off

yep, or am i missing some technical reason why data bloke thinks taking the wheel off is a better idea ?

Only that you either end up undoing a wheel nut or overtightening it unless you happen to have a socket that will fit the spindle nut in the centre and pass through the hole in the wheel:D
