Does anyone know the best place to pass a cable from inside engine bay to rear of dashboard area on a 2013 discovery 4, looking under bonnet it looks like I need a trained rat to get through.

It might be easier looking starting inside the car looking at the engine bay. As in behind the pedals or around the heater. The loom has got to pass through somewhere
 
Probably best to drop the lower glove box out the car, the 2nd fuse box is above it and cables will run from battery to the fuse box so will pass through the bulkhead, maybe you can use the same grommets
 
I've got wires in through the bonnet release cable's grommet cos it was the easyest to reach... might be a solution for D4 too?

Got a rat living in my D3 engine bay at the moment. You can have him if you want. Only way I can keep it out is with a tub of thinners in there. Seems they don't like the smell....
 
Thanks for the tips when I first took a look under the bonnet and saw that it looked like I needed something that could wiggle it's way on it's own I just shut it up and thought I would just ask on here as someone must have done it before but I will try again.

An 18”-20” long cable tie used as a ‘mouse’ is flexible enough and safe enough to pass through existing rubber grommets in the engine bulk head, or anywhere where there’s a wiring grommet. The tie will need a hole in it to attach a draw string/wire.
Are u sure there’s no blank grommets in the bulk head, possibly one or two that’s been partially concealed by an item install on the bulk.

Assuming the 4 is the same as the 3, look by the servo where the clutch cable/pipe would go through the bulkhead, and you will see a grommet, this is the common place to run stuff into the car.
Iirc the groomet cannot at first be seen from inside, as the interior insulation goes further up the bulkhead.

I use to have a cat that liked to live in my van I had to check under the bonnet every morning before starting the engine if I was not watching out it would be inside in a flash and hidden in the back I could never understand why it liked the van.

It is for a couple of camera's, I use to have one on my van on the rear which gave a much better view than looking with my own eyes especially when it was either foggy or spray on motorways I am trying to fit one on the rear and one on the front the cameras are hd cameras which see through fog or spray much better than I can I will put up a photo if I ever manage to get it completed, in the past I have always driven old semi clapped out vehicles and would have just got out the drill and took my chance on not hitting anything but with this vehicle as it still looks good I thought I would try to keep it as standard as possible and not start just putting extra cables wherever was easiest, thanks for your reply.

Some one is telling u ‘pokies’ HD cannot see better in fog/spray than SD, HD will just give u high definition of your fog/spray even less if the camera is in a housing behind glass.
Are u installing a standard dash cam front and rear, or infra-red external cameras that can detect heat sources. also so why do u need wiring from the engine bay?

How do you find your way through to the grommet? There is a black box, the lid can be easily removed and there are two nuts inside which I could undo. Would that expose the grommet for the clutch cable (if it was a manual)?

it was a long time ago when I ran the cable into the car through the Grommet
I believe the Gromit is for the clutch pipe for the manual version so if yours is a manual you do not have a spare Grommet if that makes sense?

Thank you, sorry for my confusing comment, mine is also an auto, but I can’t for the life of me find the spare grommet!
 
Pointed with red arrow(the cable is already passed through it) you have to push a solid wire through it from the engine bay first you can't see anything from inside untill then, see attachments
