Yes, the steering feels normal now. It could be the belt, I put a bit of pressure behind it but not enough that I thought could stuff the bearings....but maybe it isn't enough !

If that's all that's involved in bleeding the system via the nipple that sound sounds easy enough - can get to it no problem as get a socket straight on it. May try that in the week :)

Rebuilding I quite fancy having a go at - at least I'll have one 'in stock' then and be good to learn how to do it as well !
 
You can always try cracking the bleed nipple on the steering box with the engine running at idle and the wheels straight ahead to get the last of the air out the steering box

@flat done this afternoon. Fluid took a second or two to come out so maybe that forced the last of the air out.

Yep good well done, any other small bubbles will eventually self bleed :)

How does it drive now? Clutch and pas all working okay?

Clutch was fine yesterday, no issues :) being honest today I'm feeling lousy so I just bled it as you said, locked it back up and went indoors to keep warm. Job for another day unfortunately :(
