Looking at it. Couldn't you just put a ram on the steering damper bracket.
I'm sure a local feyewpumanatic chap could knock you up a simple ram and pump.
Might even stop the whitefingerThe ram system (as used for the Heystee and the tractors) needs the control valve on the ram linked to the drop arm. One end of the ram is where the link arm goes, the other is on a fixed bracket. When the drop arm moves the valve moves so the ram moves until the valve is neutral again so the ram follows the steering. If pressure fails the drop arm pushes the valve and the ram without assistence. Its simple and was used on loads of American cars but it gives little or no feel.
