thought a disco 200 water pump at £27-84 was too good to be true.
purchased 11/06/2014,
fitted on my cambelt rebuild,
done 250 miles succesfully in one day, only been used on the odd trip to B&Q`s since.
had to jump start a neighbours car today, so my bonnet up, long jump leeds on both cars, a few extra revs on mine as his volvo was dead as a dodo..
looked at the front of my engine to see niagra falls running away with my £15 a gallon anti freeze.
phoned my "local" landrover man, who said, err, yes, we do get trouble with them, but we have to sell them as every one else does..
going to exchange it for a better quality one this week, for about £13 extra.
I`m getting that one at cost price, not whats in the catalogue price..

lesson to be learned, - dont buy "Important" parts as ****parts....

the wasted antifreeze and dirty hands come free...........:D

Quality seems to vary, pot luck what you get, mine's been ok for five years but the rear crank seal leaked after 3 months:rolleyes:

its the same with some scooter parts..look good, but fail quickly,
but then some last for almost ever..
the most dangerous was one brand of scooter tyres, that delaminated, went badly out of round, and if you never spotted the Iratic behaviour of the tyre - boom, they just let go..
not very funny on a quick scooter doing the miles on a rally...

had issues with ****part before , I only buy mudflaps from them as I tend to break them before they self destruct anyway

You pretty much hit the nail on the head there. Important parts should not be the cheapest option.

Denso for Starter motors too. Just not worth buying cheap and paying twice.

Not just ****parts, Allmakes 4x4 suck ass too, bought one of their Defender front arch spats, piece of crap, slightly out of shape and made from brittle plastic that split once you started to fit it, it was so bad it can only be described as utter clown shoes, been the same with other body parts from them. What do you do? Buy a genuine Landrover part for the same amount of money as the national debt of Nigeria? Or buy **** poor components manufactured by Chinese children? Or buy used parts like my arch and spend ages prepping and repainting it? I think I might have been lucky so far, but all the Bearmach stuff I've fitted all seems to be functioning ok so far, but that's probably all made by the same Chinese children as ****part and AllClownShoes 4x4. Why there is not a part supplier that's somewhere between genuine parts and the crud at the bottom? I don't know. I would pay more for parts knowing that I don't have to keep checking the water pump once fitted because it's substandard Chinese garbage, I'm not even going to blame the Chinese as they only make the components for the price they are told to make them for by these purveyors of tat.

And of course you have to ask yourself where LR genuine parts are made once the item becomes obsolete. Fitted a LR screen-wash pump (purchased from a main stealer) that bore a remarkable similarity to the equivalent BP item, only to find that it didn't work at all! Returned it under warranty & went instead for a BP pump & that's is still working.

Yeah, I m sure those Chinese children are busy assembling genuine parts too, especially after making all those FIFA endorsed footballs recently, those children I would assume have shoes and other luxury perks such as pay exceeding 50 Cents per day, a verbal guarantee, we'll a sort of nod and a wink by the government shift enforcer, that nobody will come in the dead of night to harvest your organs. The above perks are covered by the price of genuine parts.
