I've just bought a 1985 ex-military 110 and finding it difficult to locate part numbers, retroanaconda would be great but is 1987-onwards. Any pointers to part numbers for early defenders would be much appreciated. I currently need rear wheel cylinders and shoes so if anyone knows whether they're compatible with later defenders or earlier series that would be great.....

Hey Steve, I'm currently rebuilding a 110 and used Retroanacondas website for all my part numbers despite my landy also being an '85 model. No problems so far except my rear springs and shocks but didn't order them by number anyway. Remember to start a rebuild thread on Loonyzone with plenty of pics:)

Erm there is no such thing as an early 1985 Defender.... so maybe this is were you are going wrong.... ;)

An early Defender is 1990-1991.

What you have isn't a Defender. It's a One Ten.

Parts are honestly **** easy to buy for Land Rovers..... there must be a million websites and almost as many physical shops in the UK.

Have a look at places like this...
http://www.paddockspares.com/parts-and-accessories/land-rover-defender/axle.html

They generally show a picture and say to/from a VIN. Pretty easy really.

And if in doubt, use that old fashioned thing called a telephone and phone up the seller and double check. If they specialise in selling Land Rover parts, a common as anything One Ten will not prove to be a struggle to locate parts for.

For reference, that age One Ten will be using a Salisbury rear axle. A very good axle, but is different to a Ninety, Discovery, Range Rover or late Defender 110/130 model rear axle.

LIke he says^^^^^^^^^^^^. Its a One-Ten!

Those shoes are widely available. I bought a set for my Ninety last week from the local parts indie, he had them in stock. But all the major telephone/internet suppliers carry them as well.
