Cars built before 1997 will be ban, but it will still be alright for the French to burn tires during various demonstrations or blocking the roads for hours which also causes pollution.

Banning 20 yr old cars isnt going to make any real difference, but it is the start of exactly what Boris did with London.

It says "Classic" cars "such as old Citroens" will be exempt from the ban.
I wonder what models will qualify as a "Classic" Land Rover?

IIRC a classic car as far as the French authorities are concerned is anything over 30 year old, and once you register your car as a "Voiture de collection" it only needs a "control technique" (mot) every 5 years. That includes landies, I have a French mate who has about 14 of em. We don't pay road tax either.:)

edit to say it could be quite good fun driving around Paris in an old series with a winch bumper on the front and a nato hitch on the back

Looking at the news and French weather reports today, the French could do with a few Defenders to rescue some people stranded.

French cars over 20 years old are miracles, but normal for Defenders so I doubt we will be exempt. But I wont be driving there soon anyway.
