how long are the 1 tonne shackles compared to standard? I guess theres nothing stopping me getting hold of some nice and thick steel plate and drilling some holes to make my own shackles? How long can I make them before I have to start messing about with brake lines, modified steering arms, brake lines etc etc?

Using parabolics will give you about an inch lift anyway, extended shackles (military/one tonne) will probably give you another inch as you are only fitting them at one end of the spring.
Some people say that using the extended shackles on the front can cock up your steering geometry but i don't personally have experience of this.

I don't have Parabolics, but I do have extended shackles in order to fit 9.00 tyres on. They give about an inch of lift as they're only lifting one end of the spring. I've had no problem with brake lines, steering or prop angles by fitting them. Cost me about £35 total for the 2 kits front and back.
Why do you want a lift?
I've never been stuck because of the body, it's always been the diffs or spring hangers hooking up. The only way to increase clearance there is to fit taller tyres.

after eght months I took mine off & put LR HD springs on, 2 inch lift no point, if you need to go high get a 90.
Put Paras on mine - main reason is to give more wheel articulation (sp?) cus the old springs were rusted solid. Gave a small amount of lift, but nothing major. Though i did get very confused as after doing it the Landie was very lob-sided. I eventually realised the chassis has collapsed at the front and that is why it is on the ****. Nout to do with the suspension.

my 109 softtop will not be loaded too much, i like a soft suspension, so i would like to fit the 3-leaf ones rear ...
on other hand, paul haystee and rockymountain seems to have nothing in stock for months ...

I think you will need the 4 leaf spings for your 109 because of the extra weight.well, looks really good ...

The ride on the new springs on the road was spot on....very comfy.
When i took it off road i found i could go places i couldn't get to before. I know the diffs stay the same height, but the articulation was 10 times better than the stock set up.
