Hi all.
My missus owns a freelander and wants the bumpers painted. They have faded in places making em a blotchy grey and black mess.
Ill spray em myself and was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of what paint to use and do i need a plastic primer too?
It will have to be aerosols cos i dont have a compressor.
Thanks.:)

yes , you need plastic primer. check out your local bodyshop supplys , and get some bumper tex " fine grade ", which is in aerosols, and will do a great job...

Thanks for all the replies chaps and chappesses. I personally wouldnt bother painting em but Mrs likes her car to look tidy ( thats also why she finds any excuse not to drive my disco).:D
When (if) the weather sorts itself out, ill get cracking.

My disco 2 plastic wheel arches looked grey,Went Halfords bought a large can of black silk spray.Got home wiped down the plastic with white spirit,Masked off and on a sunny afternoon about a couple of months ago i sprayed 2 coats directly onto the plastic,They now look great.Did the same on next doors vauxhall car.

Ive just watched the heat gun thingy on you tube, thanks. Reckon ill do that as ive got a heat gun. Best start somewhere not too visible in case i cook the plastic and end up bubbling the plastic. She'll fookin kill me if it looks worse than when i started.

Don't even go there, you'll only end up buffing them every two weeks. Tell her it needs new bumpers at £2k and never mind, put the kettle on.

I think they look alright painted, this is my first FL when I had all the grey plastic painted.

Looks tidy enough that. Just bothered a bit that the paint will start flaking or peeling then its twice the work again to sort it. Im opting for the heat gun method for starters.:)

If you miss somewhere that you haven't keyed, it will definitely peel, done loads of plastics when i worked in a coach works, and it takes time and effort to get them perfect, the plastic primer still needs a key for it to stick too,so you need to get in every nook and cranny.
