Just bought these roof bars: Van roof racks, van Ply Lining Kits, van Roof Bars, van Steel Racking, Pipe Carriers, Lock Protection, seat covers and Bulkheads from Demar Suppliers in the UK

Not happy with silver, bright zinc passivated finish, so wanting to paint them black.

What approach/products would you recommend? Any need for a primer?

Tried Hammerite on other jobs but it just scrapes off. So if that's the case for most metal paints, I reckon I should just use a can of spray paint.

I think you'll need self etching primer, then you can over paint with what you like.

Thanks Rob. Looking for the right primer for going onto zinc now.

Etch primer is needed, ask your local paint shop, they will advise which one. Have you though about powder coating? Its not that expensive and gives the best results for durability...
