After priming and painting the new doors and door tops (Britpart) that I bought from Paddocks for my series 2a I tried putting them on. The bottom of the door is flush with the bodywork but the top sticks out approx. 1/2 an inch. Has anyone got any ideas on how to adjust the door fitting?

did you compare them to the old ones?
is this sticking up above the top or out to the side?
do you have a canvas top on ?

Pictures may help.

It's a Station Wagon, the bottom of the door is flush with the body but the door is sloping outwards towards the top.

Standard Britpart fit unfortunately. Many were really bad - tubes where bolts go through not welded in straight. SP Landrover make much better fitting body parts.

I got one from famous four around £65 iirc glazed and grey primed with nuts for the s3, fitted perfectly.

no idea who actually made it, was delivered cellophane wrapped in a wooden frame, only bit I had to add was the locking thing for the sliding panel

Couple things you can check here. First off, is the door itself straight and square? Many aftermarket ones sadly are not - they weld up the frames without clamping them properly and things warp.

However, all is not lost. Doors are amenable to a little percussive maintenance (i.e.: bend the sod to fit). Once you're sure it's aligned properly (loosen off the hinges from the bulkhead and fit things up so the gaps are right and aligned) then you can grab the door top and bottom and give it a twist to fit it. Do this without the door top in place - make the door fit right then and only then deal with the top half.

The doors on my IIA were early Series II bits I disassembled and rebuilt before installing. As they had taken a set from the donor vehicle I had a good time getting them to fit my 109 properly - took a bit of twisting and buggering about to get that to happen.

What type of hinges do you have the early ones or series 3 type as they are handed to each side of vehicle.

I just temporarily put on one of the SP doors that I bought for my series 3 and it fitted perfectly so lesson learned don't by Britpart as it costs more in the end. I have now ordered SP doors for my series 2a. Thanks for to all for your advice.

My sp door tops were different sizes left to right....wasnt that impressed

The passengers door is bigger than drivers door and bigger than the door i removed.....i noticed AFTER i painted it.... No happy bunny. Check before you paint em.
