Since refurbing compressor eas has been working well. Levelling straight away after start up, rising and lowering on command etc. However yesterday morning the outside temperature had dropped to 8c and on start up eas was very slow to level, i.e. in raising rear suspension as car sits down a little overnight. Throughout the Winter months had the same problem but was hoping it was cured by compressor refurb. It seems to be it doesn't like the cold? Anyone else had a similar fault that they cured?
 
Thanks fellows. My son removed drain plug from tank this morning and bone dry. Opened up dryer and same. Put desiccant granules in the oven for half an hour before refitting. Moisture in system was my thinking too in the winter months but the other day outside temp only dropped to 8c.

You may have leaking NRV 1 on the pressure side. It won't go anywhere if the tank pressure is lower than the pressure in the bags.
 
Was there any white powder in the bottom the dryer? Take the exhaust filter off the valve block and see if any has been injested. That will cause problems with the valves seating correctly
 
Yes there was residue in the bottom. Will check it out thanks. Non return valve makes sense too. Thanks.

The NRV's are in the valve block so the residue may be causing problem's in the v/block. Sound's like a strip down, clean and "O" ring replacement may be on the cards.
 
Job for next weekend. Still wondering why it should be temperature related. Nitrile O-rings have a huge temperature range as do rubber, Viton, neoprene, polyurethane etc. they should function correctly down to -50c. but who knows what Land Rover uses? Anybody know what the airbags are made of specifically?

Not if they are coated with crusted on silica gel dust.
