Thank you for your responses. Take a look at the following - in 2010 a couple did exactly what I plan to do in the same vehicle. They only have praise for it. A completely trouble free run using air suspension. http://www.lilongwedown.com/LilongweDown/Trip_Log/Entries/2010/7/10_The_Range_Rover__a_eulogy.html

That's an L322. Sorry, thought we were talking P38. That L322 will have been less than ten years old at the time. Something to bear in mind. Beware the GM autobox. Jag v8 is the engine for reliability.

Unless the petrol has improved in Africa since I lived there, I doubt the Jag V8 would last long.

Doesn't matter what engine it has, if there are twigs in the fuel i doubt any engine would survive. ;)

For the L322 the Jag v8 is the best unit.

If Diesel is contaminated i'd disagree.

Getting crap into an injection pump!

or injectors!
The have things called filters. You obviously haven't experienced the stuff that pretends to be petrol in parts of Africa, nothing to do with contamination either.

I don’t think a Disco is better off-road than a P38 - Or I’d have bought a rotten one of them instead.
You only have it coz your P38 was stuffed and guzzles too much ;)
