Hi All!
Had this posted in introduce yourself thread and al I got was 'Don't buy one'! buy a Disco!
My problem is...
Put it in drive and nothing, put it in 1st and when it reaches drive speed put it in drive and its fine.
Its not so much a problem as inconvinient! Traffic lights ect..
Any help much appreciated

A common problem with all ZF 4HP22/24 boxes is the failure of the one way "sprag" clutch. Once the cams in this one way sprag clutch "flip" the unit will slip both ways resulting in the vehicle only pulling off with the shifter in position "1" not "D" and driving OK when shifted up to position 2,3 and D until you stop then you need to pull it back to "1" to start off again.
 
Just shows that you get used to nearly every problem on Range Rovers being electrical when in fact it can be totally mechanical. Good answer Stefan!
 
best bet is email ashcrofts

they have been very good re advise

they may want to recon the whole unit
but if yu plan to keep the vehicle long term

it might be worth it
