hi my neighbor has a p38 N reg he has just rebuilt engine a few weeks ago was all running fine until the other day hes water hose exploded so he replaced and thought nothing of it until yesterday he was towing a trailer it was about 6 mile round trip he noticed there was some water coming from water tank when he checked hoses they was solid with pressure and took few hours for pressure to go down he went out this morning and he checked the pressure and it was fine we took the car for a drive not even 2 miles and it is solid with pressure again to the point where it is making one of the hoses slightly bulge again i was just wondering if any one noes what it could be any info would be appreciated thanks lee

That happened to me when I was in mid wales, I live in Scotland, and the radiator just exploded, cost me over £500 to get it recovered, with a hunch, it could be the water pump has gone, the blades in my p38 had melted, as they are plastic, my husband bought one with a metal blade after market model, but the seal on that went a couple of miles use, so he changed the blades around, it worked fine until the seal on the original pump went too, considering it was the same pump the car came with out of the factory, it didn't do too bad. Bought a pump from britpart or another trusted supplier that the Land Rover magazines regularly advertise, and it was like brand new.

I hope that helps.

whoever rebuilt the engine fitted a head gasket upside down!

OR one has blown OR the waterpump has failed.

he is going to try a new water pump and see if that's the cause its just weird because there is a lot of pressure but its not over heating thanks for the replies
