hi everyone.my husband (woody) and i are new p38 owners! can anyone give advice as we have a problem with our new purchase? it does not seem to like reversing up and off the incline on our drive! any suggestions? nuneaton area

If it is a diesel auto and the clutch seems to be slipping when you try to get it off the drive it may be the gearbox oil filter and transmission fluid wants changing. Mine was the same when I got it but after a good service it made a big difference.

our car is an s reg 2.5 dhse auto.It reverses fine on the flat but not on an incline.many thanks for everyones advice (even the reversing onto the drive!) , hubby is going to have a go at servicing the gearbox tomorrow. Is it worth trying ourselves, or is it better to take it to a garage? many thanks once again

hopefully that will work! have just dropped "the lads" off at train station for wembley, and the car wouldnt reverse on the flat and the abs light came on;tried loads of revs but only succeeded by putting into low range!

I didn't have any of these problems with mine, only difficult to get it out of the drive (1 in 7) Sorry, but it sounds like you need someone with more knowledge than me to make suggestions for this.

Low oil level in the Auto box could be the cause, certainly worth doing an oil and filter change before going for a new gearbox!
