Ladies and Gentlemen, a problem has occured with mother in laws new toy. Just had the engine replaced in her 4 litre P38 it has done a mere 12 miles since and only 3.5 miles from the garage in her hands. Went to move it today and it wont start. There are numerous messages displayed on a quite dim message display. These messages are Gearbox fault, bulb fault, airbag fault, slow 35 max. There is nothing else happening when the key is turned. I am inclined towards an electrical problem since it was working fine.

Any suggestions would be a great help as it needs to be moved before the garage reopens.

Many thanks in advance

That's what we have came to conclude and will try it in the morning.

Cheers for the confirmation.

The Battery terminals are tight checked them yesterday. The car had been sat with a flat battery before the new engine was fitted chances are that with being moved around the garage a couple of times and never really taken for a run any charge that was put in to the battery has been drained. Just ran out of time yesterday to try a new one on.

I know I ask this every time I hear a flat battery has occurred for no reason, BUT have you had your RF receiver replaced with the new one?

If your P38 still has the old AFR1953 RF receiver installed, it is prone to spurious RF signals and will wake up the security system and drain your battery. These can be anything from Wi-Fi, CCTV signals, garage door openers even cheap pound shop weather stations.
