Personally, I don't think I could , if I won the euro millions is have to get a overfinch 630r

Even with a large Euromillions win I doubt whether I could afford a tropical island large enough to warrant anything more exotic than an old Defender and a golf buggy.

There is a company over here that does a conversion to a later range rover engine, 3L I think, can't remember the name, symtek maybe, but its pricey

Edit- Customers Vehicles

I have been told that it was not possible due to all the electronics in the 4.6... So they were wrong... Interested indeed I wonder how much it will cost and if it really worth it. Still I like it!

Cheers for this info. For all the talk about how difficult it is to do an engine swap on the p38, it seems like they did get on just fine with the 4m40.. I wonder if fitting the 1KZ will be as straight forward as with the Mitsy lump..

Eightinavee do you happen to know if it's the HP24 that had the drive plate issues with the Mitsy engine? I ask because the 1KZ is more torquey than the 4m40..
I dont think its a question of strength, more that the egine to gearbox alignment was not correct so the drive plate was being flexed too much. One customer of mine was replacing them every six months, even with two plates in place - till he sorted the alignment issue.
I have to say that although te engine pulled well and was not sluggish,it was far from refined.Sitting at the lights in drive is like sitting on a jack hammer ! They really needed more work on the engine mounts and a shallower profile sump. They fitted blocks on the front axle to stop it going too low - meaning the car could never fully get down to access level, and yet the track rod still wore holes in the sump...
The Mazda conversion was a much better job, smoother etc and the electrics had been more tidily done.Had that been done to an auto it really could have been a worthwhile conversion.

There have been reports of numerous different engine swops into the P38.
However nobody ,to my knowledge, has published a comprehensive DIY guide for those who would like to do likewise to follow.
The company who does the TDV6 conversion does sell a kit to do so( I presume with instructions) but it does come at a price.I seem to remember it would cost around £10k to £12k (including engine) + your labour to do the conversion.

When I win the lotto...................:D

Cheers eightinavee. I don't think I'll proceed with purchasing the p38 I was talking about anyway. After closer inspection with my mechanics, seems like there's something dodgy about the chassis too, it looks like it's been redressed in some way, may be after a crash.. Still on the hunt for one of these bad boys :(
