Hello All,

Recently purchased a Range Rover P38 and the front left (NS) will not go up or down.

The message on the dash reads "window not set" for the LH-F on start up. It then again gives this error when you press the switch up. I will assume this means the switch is working.

Pressing the switch up or down results in an audible click coming from the door but no attempt at motor activation.

I took off the door card and inspected the outstation in the door. There were about 5 components that looked fried so i assumed that was the issue and purchased a 2nd hand replacement. I fitted this today and it has made no difference.

Now i have read other posts across the web and found nothing that is the same as my problem. I have seen people talking about resetting the system however. Do i need to do this? if so, how do i?

Once i get my multimeter back i will check the motor is getting power.

Any ideas or help much appreciated, driving across Europe very soon and would like to be able to drop the window down.

Cheers,
Tony

Had the same problem with the passenger rear window.
Checked the motor in the door which powered the window. Swapped switches and checked wiring down the door pillar. All good.
Ended up removing the BECM from under the drivers seat and replacing relay number 2 which feeds the rear window.
Worked a treat after that.

If it is a click-click-click continuously while the button is pushed, more than likely it is the window regulator gears are shagged....

(aside) I had a lecturer at College called Tony Day who taught Aerodynamics.....is this you?? Was in 1994-1998....Brooklands Technical College, Weybridge....

No its not the clicks of doom, i mean the regulator could be dead but i will tackle that once the motor works. I've had the door card off and the motor isn't even attempting to run. I've had the outstation apart and i can feel the relay clicking, I press the window switch up or down and it will make a relay in that outstation box click.

Unfortunately not, I'm only 24 so my aerodynamics knowledge was very limited when i was 4-8. haha.

Have you got a copy of Rave yet?

There is a link to the download somewhere in the tech archive.

My guess given that all the other windows are set it that the motor burned out at some stage in the past.

Ahh...far game.

Yep, sounds like the motor is goosed....

Get the RAVE manuals they are indispensable for the Range Rover owner...

The front windws have the relay in the door outstation. These fail if water is ingressing down the window & through the window seal.
