hi i think my transfer box has locked up!
what would course this and how can i fix it???

What makes you think your transfer box has locked up?

well when i turn tight corners lets say right i have to give it more throttle at slow speed as it feel like the brake is on and the rear drivers wheel skids forward,

i also jack up the front axle and tryed to turn wheel with a knocle bar but it will not turn..
so what do you think?

regards matt

o i would like to say this is my first p38..

Sounds like you're running it with the centre diff lock on .. not a good thing .. ;)

It could be that or stuck UJ's etc .. whereabouts are you?

jack one front wheel up try turing it with a long bar and socket on a wheel nut it should turn slowly/stiffly if it wont turnviscous coupling is seized, it sits in a housing just behind front prop on t/box can be changed without removing t/box google rtc6044

Sorry, I still drive a 'normal' Landy .. didn't know they had VC's .. ;)

I suppose (hope) it does a similar job as a CDL but progressively maybe? Used to have a viscous drive on a racing (Radio Control) Monster Truck many years ago .. :)

hhi iv done the jack up one wheel and tryed to turn it but no luck at all....
what would coures it to seize up like this? its not noisey or anything,
is it possible to unseize??
is this a common thing to happan to these??

im in derby

they dont last forever ,10 years roughly on the classic model ,you can get recon ones from places like ashcroft transmissions i believe, you can remove front prop for the time been to stop the wind up buggering front diff

is there any diffrence between the years and models when it come to getting a replacement?
and can this be change over on my drive?

is there anything i need to no upon installing it?

no ,you will just need some silicone sealant ,if you look around the edge of housing you will find tabs to lever against to remove it ,sealant sticks it well usually, once youve removed flange v/c will press or tap out of housing
