Hi Everyone
I am thinking of fitting a towbar /electrics so as to be able to tow a caravan to meetings (HISTORIC KART CLUB RACES) WHAT ADVICE COULD YOU OFFER PLEASE
Regards Brian
DOES ANYONE HAVE ONE FOR SALE??
Electrics for the tow bar are behind the panels in the rear quarters, normal set on the offside, secondary set nearside. Do not be tempted to T into the lights wiring, the BECM wil not like it.

Seemed to remember getting an electrics kit from Rimmers for my first P38, couldn't be simpler as Keith has said behind the trim panel and just plugs in. Has all the gubbins you need and won't upset the BeCM, 'cos it's factory.

Proper job:)

No need to buy an expensive RR tow loom, the connector pin outs are in RAVE and it's easy enough to make your own connections.

Hi Thank you for the replies, My p38 seems to have a tow bar fitted (heavy box section welded to chassis but no tow ball brackets etc is this ok to tow a large caravan

P38 is designed to tow up to 3.5 metric tonnes. Or 7716 pounds.

There is also another bolt on crossbar which fits behind the bumper from which a drop plate bolts to the towbar. Good luck with getting the bumper off. Usually seized bolts which are torx head.

Hello I had abetter look and the box section i thought was welded to the chassis is i believe bolted on , so am i to look for another towbar bolted behind the bumper any photos available brian

As long as the tow bar is plated with the appropriate CE approvals, you can tow up to 3.5 tonnes with whichever tow bar you fit.

Thank you! I will look on e-bay seems to be quite a choice available I will definitely go for new electrics maybe wire up to the new style 13 pin plug

Hi All
Removed the rear bumper yesterday Had to cut /grind and drill the 2 tork bolts that are the main fixing, some rust damage to the rear of the chassis rails ( fabrication and welding required currently looking for the best deal for a towbar on e-bay

I have done and had quite a lot done to my RR 2.5 Diesel recently and now I'm certain, it can easily pull the skin off a rice pudding.............well maybe anyway

Get it chipped, better mpg and more power, mine will pull a house down:)

Better MPG on the dash display maybe, mine long term using brim to brim logs shows little difference between chipped and unchipped.
Unchipped I still get close to 30mpg on a run.:D
