So to stop the RF been constantly picking up a signal, from me or other devises is it right I disconnect the connector that's under the o/s/r window ? Im sure Ive read on here that if you disconnect it it still works but only when your close to the car, a small price to pay if it stops burning out the door locks !

Doug, not sure if you received a private message from me. If not can you please ring me to arrange a time / date that's good for you to repair my p38. Thanks hebby73

She's alive !
I really didnt think it would work again, dougdotcom drove 140 miles to repair my car, how many other people would do that ???
I was completely lost trying to fix my range rover, me and 3 other time served mechanics must have spent over 20 hours looking at it trying to understand what went wrong, after checking everything we were convinced it was the injector pump as it wasn't pumping fuel to the injectors. Or an imobaliser issue. We now no this was the spider unit stopping the fuel been pumped to the injectors again part of the immobiliser. If it wasn't for doug I would have probably scrapped the car. I didn't want to send the becm off for someone else to repair it, then come back fit it and then not start, I wouldn't know what to do next.
So when doug kindly offered his services I jumped at the offer because if he could fix the becm box and it still wouldn't start then at least he would be able to check all the other electric boxes.
After doug worked his magic on the becm box the car started first time !
It was fantastic to hear her run again, I payed doug for his services and that was that. I have a few small issues with windows warning messages but that's nothing compaired to the engine not running, I've now disconnected the blue wire from the RF box and I'm testing the battery today. I will look on here to find a post regarding the window fix.can I please say a big THANK YOU to everyone who has helped me with my p38, it's all new to me and I'm so glad I stumbled on to this forum your all really helpful and I'm most gratful
Doug your a star and you come highly recommended if anyone is reading this post because they are having similar problems then I would recommend you contact dougdotcom here on this forum.

Once again a BIG thank you. Hebby73

Glad you are up and running. There were quite a few folks who suggested it was a sync issue.
The windows and sunroof not set messages are normal after battery has been flat /disconnected.The owners manual explains the reset procedure.:D

Sounds like it was out of sync. You need a Syncmate. Worth it's weight in gold. Just press windows fully down then fully back up to set them same with sunroof if you have one.

Windows and sun roof now sorted, new battery fitted blue wire taken out of rf reciver box changed the wiring last night at the becm box regarding the air suspension patch wires. I now have no faults on the dash !!!

You know what's going to happen now, car will get stollen or someone will crash into it !!!

Pleased you got it sorted....

I have heard Doug is a top chap....

Don't be a stranger now its fixed though...many come on here crying out for help - get loads of replies and offers of support, then bugger off with out paying it forward and trying help others....only for them to come back a year or so later when they have the next big hiccup, expecting to be helped again then they can go bugger off and not help anyone else, or never put a reply on how it was fixed, as this could help someone else....

Stick with us buddy, we ain't that bad...

It's possible to go a year without a problem?

You should replace the RF receiver with latest improved version.Sometimes just disconnecting the blue wire is not enough as the older receivers are known to fail themselves and cause issues.;)

Saint v8 yes I will be hanging around for quite some time ! Lol
I am registered with 3 other forums as I have lots of other hobbies, I totally understand the frustration caused by helping someone then never even getting a thank you !
I won't be on here everyday but at least once a week.
John p38, I will look into that info somemore so far it's going good, apart from the clutch starting to slip, so I will search the forum regarding thar issue.
So anything I can do to help you guys ?

Hi all, I have a P38 2.5 diesel with the same non starting symptoms as Hebby73. Everything seems to be working, fuel getting to FIP but not to injectors! Very haspy Hebby73 had success, but whats not clear to me from the forum is was it a becm out of sync with the ecu problem, and did the syncmate sort it out?

If fuel is getting to the FIP but not to the injectors, most likely the stop valve on the FIP is not operating. That could be a wiring problem, a duff relay or the underbonnet fuse box. It could also be out of sync but that is fairly rare on the diesel. My first check would be the fusebox for signs/smells of burning :flame:eek:r corrosion and then the relays and check for voltage at the shut off valve.

Hi datatek, everything seems similar to Hebby73, fuel is be pushed to injector pump, shut off solinoid is operating, but injector pump does not put fuel out. No warning lights on dash. Fuses & Relays checked and ok. It appears that the quantity servo unit is not being signalled to operate the FIB and the FIB consequently is not allowing fuel out to injectors.

Here here we did not find out what caused the problem part-wise, and whether the BECM was resynced with the ECU or not,

Just spotted this thread glad you got yourself sorted had similar problems mine was due to the r/f unit in the end. although had to have both front door mechs changed, unfortunately i had two of the updated r/f units both faulty which didn't help now running at moment on old r/f with blue wire disconected. so far everything is ok and running fine and has been for couple of weeks now.intend fitting new r/f from other supplier. all down to help from dougdot com and zzr1200. both gave me considerable help and info to help me sought the problem. by the way the faulty units were purchased from island 4x4 just wondering if they have faulty batch having said that they refunded me in full without question and i have used them in past and never had any problem. i'm just wondering now where to source one though.

Ian how did you get on with the starting problems ? Any more sucsess ? My print out from land rovers data book said " spider unit fault " ive still no idea what this is but I know the becm unit won't allow the fuel pump sufficient power to pump fuel, I thought that this was something to do with the immobiliser, as I had door actuator problems at the time as well, doug.com checked all this with his data book and found only one problem with the door actuator, since doug has been everything's been perfect and I highly recommend him, the clutch did go in the end, it snapped in half ! I will be going up to the garage at some point to take some pics if they havnt thrown it away, newcluch it and she pulls like a train.
