ello all,

got a 2001 4.0 petrol, went out in it the other day, nipped into the post office, came back out and the bloody thing wouldn't start.
was cranking fine so thought it had just flooded itself. left it where it with a mate of mine to check over, they thought the same but when they checked it said it wasn't sparking or fueling. went back to it the next day and it started fine. was fine for the rest of the day.
took it to get plugged in expecting to see an immobiliser fault but no faults showing!!
next day went out for tea, came back to it and the bloody thing wouldn't start again. did the same, left it for a couple of hours, went back to it and it started again.

it's going in on monday and hopefully it will do the same when it's at the garage but was just wondering if anyone had any ideas or has had similar problems.

if you have a old spec ariel reciver then this could be the isue or the becm is starting to play up lastly it could be the crank sensor failing

turned out to be a dodgy crank sensor. it wasn't storing a code as the ecu didn't see the engine was turning over.
