Has anyone carried out a spring conversion?
Is it easy? Do I need any specialist tools?
What are the best Springs to buy?
I don't go off road so a good level of comfort is required.
Can i use salvage springs from any of the other Landy ranges?
Is ther any fixing probs if I do?
What can I expect to pay new vs salvage?
sorry its like 20 questions but I am fed up with continued EAS faults!!!

Get the EAS sorted better and cheaper than coils.
 
The P38 was never type approved for springs and there are numerous reports of dangerous stability problems with cars that have had this done (they roll much more easily for one). The suspension geometry doesn't lend itself to springs as the air bags are mounted much further inboard than they would be if they were springs.

I would seriously consider getting the eas sorted rather than do this!

Can live with that. That is why the suspension drops to a squat position on a motorways to aid stability if a sudden swerve at speed is required. It may also not be insured if that mod has not been declared on the proposal form.

IM having bother with my E A S ,i also own and drive a classic rangie,i also know which is the best ride for comfort and quality thats why im fixing the e a s system its a pain i know but persevere mate ,if you change you will miss the comfort......dave
 
have owned p38 with both spring and air and imo the air alot better was not impressed with springs at all just does not feel rite hth
 
i,m no expert but from what i,ve read about eas,its a fairly simple system that if looked after will look after you.think about it you,ve got a compressor-that can be rebuilt £30,a valve block-that can be rebuilt £30,and air bags which can costly i paid £115 for a pair but by all accounts last years.and various air lines.so why go foooking about with silly coil conversions which the car was never designed to be run on:confused:
 
Stay with the air!! got coil's on my 1995, they were on when i bought it. From the info supplied with the car, it looks like a quality kit, but,
1) the ride is harsh, pot holes or just poor ride on uneven road surfaces.
2) when loaded up and caravan on it can hit the bump stops, as the springs are made to a happy medium, not to high for high speed driving, but not to low for off road, they can't do both!
3)body roll is alot mor than with air, comaring it to a friends p38.
4) The wife and her little legs struggles to get in, my 3 year old daughter said its like climbing a mountain to get in.

Got all every thing connected, just need the time to change the springs over to bags, and clear the EAS faults.
 
Thanks to everyone who have contributed - i have now after far too much time and effort resolved the problem - until the next time - i am still thinking of the coil solution - it makes real long term sense for peace of mind!!!!!
