have RR P38 and battery keeps going flat and have read about the rf aerial on forums as probably the problem - have located the blue lead but just can't quite get the trim off which seems held down by three black flanges - have pushed pulled squeezed........ but can't release them and if keep going just know i'm going to snap them. How the *************** do they release please for big fat clumsy hands !!!!!!!!!

I presume you're talking about the 3 clips that retain the upper parcel shelf trim next to the rear loadspace window? Once you've removed the 3 plastic rivets and the single screw (I think), just pull the trim up hard and it'll come off. You may have to remove the rear pillar trim for better access and also to put the parcel shelf trim back on, this just pulls off once the tailgate rubber seal is removed.

I found it a complete pain to get that piece of trim clipped back on so if you can squeeze your hand in without removing it that would be better in my experience.

ok many thanks guys.
have given a serious tug and came off - thought i was going to break it but ok.
ps - why on earth do they put the securing screw on the window side when
could have quite easily put on otherside of the box !!!
rf aerial lead now disconnected so going to leave for a couple of days to see if
battery ok if that's it will have to fork out for the upgrade as really don't want to px her for something else as only done 45k miles in 11 years and just lovely to drive.

I've reconnected mine as it made no discernable difference to the drain i experienced, mainly because i only listen to Talk Sport on AM frequency and the reception was shocking, mind you even connected the reception is crap compared with FM. Keep looking out for something that will boost the signal.

are you sure you disconnected the right unit? The r/f receiver is the forward unit by the rear seat. The rearmost is the aerial. If the r/f is faulty or its receiving rogue signals this will flatten the battery. There are many posts covering this problem

I disconnected the rf aerial wire, over 3.5 years ago haven't had a flat battery since, I purchased the latest RF unit 3 weeks ago, so far still not had a non-start. But it is nice to unlock the rangie while walking towards it.
