My P38 keeps eating the rubber prop joint, has chewed through 4 in a year, I have checked the viscous coupling and it works , the truck is lifted and can only assume that it's eating them as it runs on an angle , has anyone converted one to run a normal prophaft or know what bits are needed to make it happen, and it's diesel auto as I know there is variants in props , and help and info will be greatly appreciated ;)

How much is it lifted?
 
Search for “Double Carden” props 4inch will probably not help standard ujs or the rubber.

The angles aren't extreme certainly won't be enough for them to bind up etc I know wear will be increased etc but want to try and keep it as simple as I can, I did notice that the petrol models don't seem to have the rubber damper joint thingy does anyone know if they are the same length props ?
 
Is the lift all in the suspension or is it body and suspension lift.
Are you having problems with both props or just 1?

It may not seem extreme to the eye but there is a reason they make these extreme props.

I am not sure but the diesel has them to smooth it out a bit, cos them diesels aren’t as smooooth as a V8:D.

It's all in the suspension ,has no body lift at all , and never managed to get one to bind up yet due to angle

I don't think I have a rubber joint and mine's a diesel thought the duel mass flywheel was used to smooth the diesel out and I don't have one of them either. I'll have to have a look next time I'm under it.

It won’t bind but it will wear aggressively, and I guess the rubber is the weakest link as you have found:)

My diesel is as smooth as a velvet codpiece:p:D
 
I don't think I have a rubber joint and mine's a diesel thought the duel mass flywheel was used to smooth the diesel out and I don't have one of them either. I'll have to have a look next time I'm under it.
No DMF unless it's a manual, all diesel auto's have the rubber doughnut
 
Front, back or both?

Would be tempted to try the non rubber donut prop to be honest;).

It's only the back that's the issue the front ujs I replaced a while back as they had play in when I bought the RR and I normally crawl under it and grease the ujs every other week and no signs of wear yet
