Hi All,

not been here for a while, but i know someone will know the answer to this !

i have a p38 which is facelfited to look like a l322, so far so good.

to do this there is various cutting that takes place, including cutting the vin plate in half on the front panel where the paint code is displayed.

Now the sensible thing would to have taken note of the paint code, but sadly not.

i need the paint code now for some respray work and only have the VIN to work with

vin number - ******edit******
its a 1995 p38 2.5dt in a shade of metallic grey

if anyone can help with the paint code that would be great, or if anyone has the same colour rangey as in my avatar can you check the paint code on yours please.

thanks for any help !

Dude - best not to place your VIN on a public forum...!!

There were only 4 standard greys I believe...

RTC6454VT LUQ 445 Arken Grey Micatallic Grey
STC4597VA LAL 659 Bonatti Grey Metallic Grey
STC1449VA LVD 574 Niagara Grey Metallic Grey
RTC6869VT LUS 476 Pembroke Grey Solid Grey

I could be wrong (no doubt Datatek will correct me again.... :D:D:D)

Don't do paint, only electronics and a bit of mechanicing:p:p

thats a great start, it'll be one of the first 3.

thanks for a speedy reply

i wasn't sure if the vin was useful if anyone had microcat or something that would decode the vin, let me know if you can.

Paint is the stuff that gets all over your fingers when the nozzle gets blocked. When you press it and try to unblock it with your finger nail. :D:D

VIN won't have the paint details in it...

Region
Country

Nowt else....

Land Rover VIN Checker Land Rover One Ten: Land Rover One Ten Blog - Google is your friend:D:D:D

ohh dear .. i maybe in trouble then ..

is there any way the main dealer can track it down or do i just need someone with an expert eye now to guess it !

Dealer should be able to tell - give them the VIN and they should be able to trace the build info from that....

Else a keen eye from a decent paint shop *could* match it up for you....

Good luck with it!

nik

just give the parts dept of your nearest LR dealer a ring, quote the reg number and they wil give you the paint code (provided it hasn't been respayed by someone not LR)

good luck
