[FONT=&quot]My 2001 P38 o/s/f door lock mechanism keeps bouncing when unlocked, none of the other doors do this - please could anyone tell me what the probable cause is?[/FONT]

Mine too, i think it may be,the lock itself,as i have had other troubles with it,mostly locking the door and not releasing . It seams to be a problem with the internal door cable not allowing the opening latch to return properly. I'm sure it will have an internal spring that has broke. Have read on other posts that water under the drivers carpet can play havoc with some of the wires to the locking, water normaly comes from heater matrix. with mine when it starts doing its lock / unlock thing it never locks the nsf door,don't know why? it don't do it all the time some times daily and then nothing for weeks, try a spray of wd 40 on lock mech and see if that helps. sorry can't be more help. Phil, thanks for the reply my problem sounds fairly similar to yours, its very temperamental - ok for a couple of weeks then all of a sudden it starts locking/unlocking. I'll give the wd40 a try for a week or so before I take the door card off and have more of a play.

Once mine had an attack that seemed to last for ages, really driving me mad. took of the door card and the interior door cable had jumped out of a retaining clip, and was working at an angle and wouldn't let the opening latch on the lock return fully home.pushed the cable back in to the clip and hey presto. this may be coincidence but it seems to cure it for a while. but as i said earlier, i think my lock unit has a broken spring inside which causes all my door problems, new lock seems the answer but they are expensive and a second hand one may be just the same as mine. maybe someone knows the correct answer out there? cheers phil

My first post and my first problem with my latest acquisition. My 2002 P38 4.6 Vogue has developed a fault with the locking module/latch. I understand that the 'locking and unlocking' of the door locks is not an uncommon fault. However, I am trying to diagnose which latch in particular has failed.

The situation is as follows:*
Driving along, the passenger door kept locking and unlocking, followed by the rear doors lock button staying down, but the rear doors could be opened and closed perfectly fine. The drivers door sometimes also bounces between locked and unlocked but only with the passenger door doing the same.

I have done a search which has been helpful, but I cannot find the UK part numbers or a guide to replace the door latch/actuator.
