To keep the headlights clean - something to do with the refraction of light caused by sh!te on the glass I assume....

:)

Depends how you define bad....

They are an incredibly complex vehicle and are getting on a bit to say the least - anything from 8 to 15 years old.

Some have been looked after with no expense spared, others have been neglected.

I love mine and don't intend to change it for a long time - and then I'll probably just get a newer Rangie. So in the meantime, I've got to pay out for repairs or leave my "investment" (and I use the term VERY loosely) sitting outside.

This weekend I've got to replace the driver's door window regulator and maybe look at the transmission fluid again.

Hey ho, if you can't take a joke, don't buy a P38!

Hi all

well got around to fitting my HID kit £59.99 from fleebay inc p&p works very well took 40 mins to do both sides but you have to remove the battery to get at the offside bulb.

no dash warning lights either so a happy upgrade and amazing clear white 800k light.

thanks for your input all will post an ebay link if any one else thinking of upgrading.

Tony:)

Update on the legality questions.
Range adjusters (height) washers wipers etc aren't neccessary for HID's although they are illegal if not fitted inside a projector beam unit (the little balls inside the headlight that looks like a magnifying glass).
As a result, the only real legal HID kits would be H7's as no H4's that I know of were fitted with projector beams (wait to be corrected).
A standard head could be modified and a projector beam fitted although its probably easier to fit an L322 headlight instead.

Quick edit, most MOT testers couldn't give a toss as long as the beam is correct hence the pass rate with H4 HID kits fitted.

I fitted 4 of these units on my MG ZT-T, 2 dip & 2 main, the only issue's I found were finding space to fit the ballast units and the "Strike" delay when you switch to main which can be intersting when you want light in a hurry, like when you want to indicate to the driver coming the other way with their main beem on what a tw*t he/she is. !!

Question, don't standard H4 bulbs have two filaments, a high and a low? What does the P38 do, energize both the high filament in the main bulb and also the separate high beam bulb or does it just use the dedicated bulb and leave the mains constantly on low?

both lights go to high beam the h4 and the seperate blub
it an off roader dont forget, needs more light when driving across fields in the dark

A long shot I know as this was posted a year ago but any chance you could look up the seller ID in your purchase history as the link doesnt work any more and my hids have packed up and I need another set.

Just stick HIDS4U straight into google.

:D

Sorry to bump an old topic but I have a P38 fitted with HID and I am getting LH dip and main failure even though the lights are normal. What would be the first thing to check.

Get rid. HIDs on non projector headlights are a menace to society. They blind oncoming motorists and, in my opinion, should be banned unless in correct projector lenses.
