hi i have a p38 when cold it runs ok. When hot tick over is ok but when you take it up to 4000 revs it starts to miss fire and cough, splutter and will not rev over 4000 revs
 
have you had it on computer?

you need to make sure plugs and leads are good, they often breakdown under load.

once you can see live data from the ecu you can get a picture of what is happening.
 
Mine had a similar thing. Could be the MAF sensor. When it does it again try unplugging the MAF.
 
try starting motor, get a friend to keep a foot on the throttle and unplug it while it is running

See what happens then
 
Just an update have taken it to the garage and put it on the diagonistics and it came up with the air flow meter so have changed that and it isn't doing it as much but still sits at 4000 revs and won't go past it! Any other ideas of what could be wrong??
 
trouble is trying to sort a problem with only half the info!!! you'll end up guessing and possibly guessing wrong!!
 
thats gonna keep costing, it'd be handy if anyone with a elm327 was in your area or you can get free garage time!!!!
