Hi there i would like input from rangie techs to help me with a problem.

My little green heater control lcd panel has the fault book popping up after about 3 mins of driving.
I have had the rangie in at huddersfield landrover centre and they say that there is no fault showing up when they connect it to the diagnostic computer.
There is however a fault showing on the seats that says the memory seats need to be checked. ( the car has manual seats thou).

can any one offer advise on this
thanks Ewan:confused:

Hi Ewan,

It's a long shot, but you could try disconnecting the battery for about 20 minutes and then re-connecting.

Make sure you have your radio code handy.

You'll also need to to re-set all the windows, which is a pain in the a*#e, but worth it if it clears the alarms.

Good luck!

Hi
If the book sign comes on it should register on hevac comp. Did the garage hook it up to Testbook, Autologic or something similar. I bought Rovercom Lite when I bought my P38 a year ago. I june the book came on and it was the left hand blend motor. I cleared the fault but it returned so the motors were replaced under warranty. About a month ago the book came on again I checked it and it showed about 4 various faults I cleared them and they haven't returned. I now run a check on everything once a month. Are you sure they cleared the fault? As for the seats when I run the body diagnostics it comes up with check passenger seat memory but I only have driver memory seat so that may be a permenant message.
Good luck
Mik

yes they connected it to the correct software and found no logged faults other than the seat thing that you have.

So there are no faults registering but the testbook does apear and does not log a fault.

1. could low aircon gas cause this fault?.
thanks ewan:confused:

i had to disconnect my aircon to fit a new engine and have never re-gassed it hence i have the "open book" on my display so i would check that, a re-fill kit is about £38 from ebay

quick note for the future...you dont need to touch the air con on the P38 if you replace the engine. just fitted new 4.6 liter unit in mine. ( my brothers a land rover fitter !!) that helped a lot. long job though but running great now.

Hi, I have a p38 4.6 hse 1997. I have noticed a fault book come up on my lcd. I have had the gas checked, leak test and there is no faults coming up when checked at land rover garage. If you do find out any more info please let me know. Cheers

wow, old thread being dragged up :D You WILL have a fault with the HeVAC system if the little green book icon is showing, even if its not showing up every time you use the vehicle it will still be logged. That OR you have a faulty display or ECU which is putting random stuff on the screen.

I would get the fault memory read again, I simply do not believe that there are no faults listed. Go to another LR garage or specialist if you dont think the first set of guys are helping enough.

I have just had the book come up on mine and the heater stays cold, is this a trip to the garage?

Sounds like the heater blend , but could also be a HEVAC head unit fault. You need to have the diagnostics done by someone with Rovercom / Faultmate or similar system really, before splashing the cash!

The same happens on mine. the book comes up every now and again. and the heaters are cold on one side (well they move if you turn the engine off an on a couple of times) so i was told it was the blend motors.

if i remember correctly that was the air con on mine. but after 15 months of trouble free / cheap motoring in my vectra i can honestly say i dont miss mine (well just a bit)
