2000 range rover p38 2.5 dhse,
Any advice or pointers appreciated folks, the check light comes on , sometimes goes off instantly or 30 mins later, if at a junction the car may stop, but starts straight away on the key, when the light is on it is running a bit sooty, i have no diagnostic tool and any advise would be great, thanks

Number 4 injector problem possibly the wiring or the connector, fuel temperature sensor so thinks it's cold, diagnostics are the way forward.

1. Put hand in pocket and buy good diagnostics, then fix problems.
2. Don't spend any money and p(r)ay a lot.

You could check the LZIR map for a nearby member with diag. Where in Lancs are you? @tarphenry might be close.

Nanocom 06 is ideal diagnostics for your vehicle.
‘But restarts straight away’ is a good sign.

Just an update , had the p38 to John Simmonds in Darwen for diagnostics, fault listed as injector needle lift sensor, will update when investigated further, wether its cable or the sensor itself

Always best to have the fault confirmed.

It might be the wiring or connector, but I will be surprised if it's the actual injector.
