Hi there. My P38 has an amusing number of faults, namely heater blowers sometimes work, sometimes not, warm (not hot) on drivers side, cold on passenger side, and other oddities. Pretty sure it's the main circuit board, which I can get hold of, only problem is, it needs to be programmed to the vehicle which requires a specific diagnostic tool called a T4, which costs around £20,000 . Unfortunately I don't happen to have one! So, does anyone know anywhere in Somerset that could programme the damn thing in? Would help hugely as the missus :)blabla:) keeps telling me I should have bought a classic instead and I don't want to have to admit she's right!!

Check all fuses for Hevac unit if ok,sounds like your blend motor need changing.Just done mine passenger side was hot and drivers side was cold on all distribution settings so changed a blend motor [just the lower drivers side } and it working great now.So if you have the same symptoms thats one job to do.

Whooaah there ! Before you do a heart transplant, you need to check a few Simple things first. Check the main fuse box for burnt relays, change your pollen filters, then test your blend motors. There is a whole walkthrough of this over on Range rover net.

yeah i would def go along with rewmer, test test and do more tests before ripping into it! The fan motor sounds like what i had, the relays were burnt out aswell as the fuse box terminals.

Even if it is the BECM, which it doesn't really sound like at this stage, it won't cost £20K to source a machine to get it sorted!! There are people on this board who can program your BECM for quite a bit less than that......:) and possibly even supply a replacement working BECM at a decent price......

Try Rewmer's suggestions first. Sounds far more like distribution blend motor to me.....

:5biagree:.if you do need a BECM rebuild or a recon one let me know and i will put you in touch with the man who can.:D:D:D:D

When i replied to this post this morning i did say check fuses is this not classed as testing and sounds like your blend motor was a suggestion to the problem.I then explained the problem i had and what needed doing to fix it.So if this guys symptoms where similar i merely stated thats one job to do,now judging by everyones reaction i should have said thats one job that might need to be done.I wasn't implying to start ripping his dashout ,i obviously wrongly am under the impression that before people start threads that they have atleast tried looking at the car or rave and cant find whats wrong so ask for advice on here and thats what i gave, advice, just as i had asked in the past .Surely the guys not fooking stupid enough to take the first answer he gets and start ripping out his dash i think the world has gone too pc and you lads need to give people a little more credit than you are doing.

Crikey, ease down fella ! no one has passed judgement on your sound advice. You need to understand that the nature of the forum is for people to tender their thoughts, advice and solutions. The more people that chip in with ideas the better. It is upto the person asking for help to choose what advice he takes.
Relax and be confident your submissions are welcome, especially as you have experience in the matter.

End of sermon.

give up admit it the wife was right mate,,,,,,you will just have to throw yoursel at her mercy an hope for the best........best of luck....dave

LP RR hevac problems can be a real pain - even with T4 to help,Have a word with Richard - West Somerset Land Rovers He can put you on the right track. From memory there are around 25 odd fault codes that the hevac ecu can log,and its all too willing to do that - esp for things like sticking distribution flaps, which my method of freeing is on www.rangerovers.net
But getting the codes read is first port of call :)

DM68,

People do come on here having read nothing and tried nothing like the guy wanting to know how to get the aircon symbol (sonwflake)of the hevac display.

this is a pretty standard symbol on most cars

He got short change

Must admit when i seen that question, i immediately thought of the deserved onslaught and abuse he was about to and did get. But to be fare the majority of threads are from genuinely concerned owners who dont want to be ripped off by main stealers or so called experts and need our collective advice,so we all chip in to help and hopefully they can either fix the problem themselves or they can go to a mechanic atleast armed with good info cos you never know one day,one of these people might save us a load of hassle trying to sort something out on our cars. I dont claim to be an expert far from it and as rewmer says its up to them to make their minds up on advice given.I was only explaining what i had said and wasn't getting on my high horse with the other members.
