Hi - have always dreamed of owning a Rangey - bought a very late P38 last week and have nothing but angst ..... latest problem is that the EAS Ride Height indicator panel on the centre dash (with the four lights) does not settle on 'standard ride height'....even after idling for some while the 'Access Crawl ride Height light ' remains on, but the 'standard ride height' light continuously flashes.

Plus - can anyone tell me how to replace the backlighter for the mirrors switch in the centre consol?

Really lovely motor - when it is working properly!!! :(

Hi martyn
It sounds like the EAS pump is on the way out or the piston seal in the pump.
You can get replacement seals on (EBAY Item number: 270206458). As for the bulb i think there is 2 screws at the top under the lid of the of the cubby box.

Have a look at this web site it gives a lot help an p38 Range Rovers

i had same trouble, it would take ages to raise to normal hight, the seal was so worn i was amazed it worked at all, i got a new seal, piston, crank and cylinder assembly (ready to fit) for £80 from island 4x4, i heard of people damaging the seals trying to fit them and the cylinder will wear as well. 20 min job! (if it is this)

Gents - want to say a big thanks for your suggestions - new to Rangeys and new to the forum.....its gone a fair way to restoring my faith in the Human Race!

Thank You

I have recently bought a P38 4.6HSE last MArch 07 actually. Ive had a couple of issues, water pump died and Coil pack was playing up. Water pump wasnt an issue but the garage I usually take was going to charge me £380 just for the coil pack!!! I said Whooa there! I'll source one myself! So I did, just round the corner om my home theres a company called 'Footloose 4X4' there expedition specialists and kit out the G4 stuff...1 phone call and the coil pack recon was just £40 +VAT but unfortunately they where out if stock. Anyway Brand New genuine landy part was just £90 which I thought was great and was delivered to my garage the next morning. check out 'Footloose4x4.com' excellent customer service, prices are very good and there knowledge is second to non! Ive since had all new exhaust middle box and rear box fitted plus fuel cap release switch and there prices and quick service has been superb. I recommend them.

i had eas fault when i bought my 4.6 but luckly for me i happened to have on vehicle that kit that allows you to pump up suspension in each corner.anyone can buy it its on ebay and it works. my eas is now working not any of your faults but a wire in unit
