So gone to drive what the missus has lovingly called Annabelle no wonder the p38 is cursed eh. Well flashing up EAS fault on dash and compressor isn’t running. I did change the seals on it last week checked and compressor was firing up. Missus has been using it this week and said no issues with her.

Do I need some magic computer stuff to unlock the compressor and find out the faults with it. Is anyone around the Blackpool area to do it can’t drive it as close to bump stops as we had her on access mode so won’t rise up.

You will need the RSW EAS software and cable or a Nanocom to read and clear the fault.

Thanks will it not reset itself one I’ve fixed it. I have found the problem the piston had wedged itself in casing and ripped the seal that I’d just put on rather annoying to say the least.

Are all 4 lights ;it on the EAS indicator on the dash? If not there may not be a hard fault. If you fix the compressor and it runs all will be well

Yeah all 4 lights flashing on the selector and EAS on dash. Are there different types of compressors on p38 as my piston doesn’t turn when the housing is fully tightened down seems like the piston bore plate is moving and locking the piston and can’t turn by hand.
The first pictures is what I called the piston bore wrong name but meh.
2nd picture is when the piston stops being able to be rotated in the housing.

Check the spades inside the compressor connector. If they are not perfectly tight & making good connection then refurbished compressor can sometimes struggle to start.

I always run them on bench using a spare battery for 30 seconds or so, to allow me to check pressure & let the new seal seat properly.

If piston is in the wrong way the indent will not fit over the screw and could jam piston.
Iff all lights are on then compressor wont run until fault reset

In your second picture the top housing is 180 degrees out, the brass outlet should point along the motor then the screw inside the top will sit in cut out of the piston.

Yeah that was a mong moment there shhhh no one else will realise that. I reckon it’s the seal kit that I fitted causing it to jam does anyone know any good kits around

Ordered another compressor kit so I’ll fit that then give the RAC a ring as have home start see what they can do with Annabelle.

If the RAC guy has advanced Snap-On with up to date software, you might get lucky. There is some coverage for P38 EAS, but if he only has general purpose diags, then Keith is right, i.e. unlucky !!

Otherwise drive it home on the bump stops !!
