Hi

well have just replaced the battery and the beast still wont start no error codes on the dash apart from the windows. engine turning over with a little black smoke from the exhaust, had this problem last saturday and thought it was just the old battery down eventualy got her to start after about an hour of trying and ran the car for 20 miles perfectly, tries again on sunday morning again no start.

new big battery today and no start. need to get her going as am over to the uk on friday morning.

so any tgoughts on what to look for please?

Check the voltage at the glowplugs, should have a good 12 volts when the glowplug light is on. If the voltage is good, then I reckon your glowplugs are shot. If the voltage is low then look for bad connections and check the glowplug relay.
You can try cycling the glowplug light by turning the ignition on and off 3 or so time and see if that helps.
 
i have the same problem new glow plugs fitted new battery and new leak off pipe new diesel filter and a new 1 way fuel valve and i am still gettin nowere i think its time to get rid its just not worth the hasal anymore
 
thanks i took my tank off last week and removed the pump and checked it it was fine the plastic tank had no sediment or sand in it either this is frustrating to thanks for your help though it keeps me in ideas
 
You might need to buy/rent a syncmate , you plug it into your odbc port look at the lights blink and as if by magic it will start.
 
Hi all

many thanks for your help one set of new glow plugs and made up some new run off fuel cable old ones all brittle and nasty.

She firred up first turn off the key, now am on the baot to Weymoth tomorrow lunchtime so with my new battery glow plugs and fuel cable she will run like the wind (please god).
