No don't like wine in particular that was just asking for the most expensive stuff i could find. Reset trip at top of a long hill out of town down to motorway. Coasted down hill and got that reading at bottom. Have had several 60 MPG plus readings doing that on other slopes but 94.6 is my record. Did used to enjoy a JD and lemonade now and again. But can't drink at all now because of medications i have to take. Bit of a bugger really. ;):D
What about alcohol free beer just for the taste of it?

Yeah!

Just another engine that sounds amazing!

And its fragile nature suites the rest of the car ;)

Buy a more reliable diesel and put a sound track in the CD player. I believe young and stupid use special units with speakers that makes their Corsa sound like a Ferrari. ;):D

Yes they weld a trombone to their Tip ;)

A good point Keith, for 26ltrs i get 150mls around the little roads of an average of 40mph and on the motorway i can easily stretch the economy to around thirty. I once had 68mpg!!
That's 26.22mpg. Down a very long steep hill after resetting the trip I saw over 80mpg:rolleyes::D Soon went back to normal going up the other side.:(:D:D:D

Who wants a fragile gas guzzling V8 dick enhancer when you can have a reliable economical diesel?:p
The RR is the dick enhancer the engine is just a compliment ;) :p

The Muscle is the v8! :p
No one wants the wheezy diesel :p

Thanks for the replies, a P38 as a daily driver for my annual mileage is probably a bit of stretch, back to looking at Freelanders.

The best I've achieved on a run was 32 mpg, 2.5 diesel manual,

That sounds about right. I get just over 30 mpg on motorways although I don't hand about. Doddling along A roads and motorways I can get about 600 miles to the tank but if I do a lot of town driving that can pretty much drop to 20 mpg.

Better looking at Hyundai or if you have the budget a Shogan/Pajero.

Datatek has the right idea. Although any older 4x4 isn't going to return the sort of mpg you're hoping for. Any green oval has the caveat , 'if you do high mileage, have a second car'.
Try something like www.sust-it.net , www.honestjohn.co.uk or www.fuelly.com to compare mpg and running costs.

Used to get around 28mpg out of a short wheelbase 2.8 Pajero automatic. Sadly as it was a grey import I couldn't register it in France:(
