can anyone tell me if the bmw m57 engine has the same block as the m51 engine that is fitted in the diesel p38 i have been told it is the same but its bored out more as it is 3ltr and what would stop me putting one in my diesel p38 please
Different injection system, different ECU, won't talk to the BECM for starters. Unless you can sort out the electronics, don't even think about the block.
It has been done but nobody delivered information about it.
I know a french garage owner who did it and uk owner that had the installation done by a bimmer specialist.
