my diesel auto p38 needs a new radiator now i have been on ebay in search for one and all the diesel auto ones have a transmission cooler in the bottom. my question is do the transmission oil cooler pipe go to the bottom of the radiator where the oil cooler is? the reason i ask is because my transmission oil cooler pipes go to a radiator thats tucked behind the bumper infront of the nearside wheel. i cannot understand why theres a oil cooler in the radiator aswell as behind the bumper can anyone help me please

You're right, the transmission cooler is right behind where the nearside fog light would be. Are you sure you're looking at DIESEL automatic rads?

The automatics use a separate oil radiator, that sits in behind the bumper, at the left side.
You're looking at radiators for the manual version, where the coolant rad has a smaller oil cooler underneath it.
Looking at Island 4x4's site, you're after PCC108470.

well the description on ebay says its a diesel auto radiator my radiator leaks at the bottom and if i leave it running the engine will start to over heat the engine temp guage is just over half way at normal running temp so i put it dwn to the leaking rad as my problem do u think it will solve it if i put a new rad on it

If it's got a cooler in the bottom it sure ain't for a diesel auto, I think it's for the petrol?

I got one off ebay with the oil cooler in the bottom from budget rads. I just left the plastic blanks on and it has been fine (6 months and counting)

I did question them when it arrive and they assured me it was fine.

The cooling is marginal at the best of times, losing part of the RAd to an unwanted oil cooler is not a good idea.

Had the same thing , ordered a radiator and where it should go to cooler for a manual they have dust caps covering and you use the same radiator for automatics / manual , we checked with manufacturer etc and put it in no probs.. [ well when i say No probs thats a whole different ball game to do with water pumps , thermostats etc ..]
