PM stands for personal message. It is what the old forum referred to what is now a "conversation" - the little envelope in the top right corner next to your username. Some of the members on here still use the old terms although to be fair they're probably sat squinting at a fuzzy screen with their underpants on back to front waiting for the nurse to apply their medication.
