Hi
I have purchased a new brake accumulator for my P38 4.6 HSE and have read the rave cd and it says to bleed the brake system after you have changed the accumulator. Is this right? Has anybody changed the accumulator and can give me an answer?

Thanks Craig

I did mine last year. Fairly easy job but was bloody difficult to get the old one off.
Get yourself an oil strap wrench to remove it.
De-pressurise first as per Rave.
I didnt bleed the brakes after doing it and its fine but it is probably a good idea to do it.

Hi
You say that you did not bleed the brakes at the time but have you had to since? or has the car been fine?

Thanks Craig

Hi
Just an update. Got in car and put foot through brakes for 30 presses, left for a couple of mins then did again 6 times. Sorry but this did not work and car and engine and me were covered in brake fluid :-( . got accumulator changed and rushed off to the car wash with smoke pouring from all side of the bonnet due to brake fluid on exhaust manifold :) Nice to report all working OK and all lights have stopped coming on when I braked. The ABS pump now comes on after 2-3 brake pedal touches and stays on longer than before instead of every time for just a short time.

Thanks for all your help Craig

A good way to ensure you de pressurise the accumulator is to remove the pump relay in the engine bay fuse box then when you hit the pedal there is no chance of it repressurising itself
