well auto box went on my range rover no forward gears got another box no reverse gear so took it bk now fitting 3rd gear box are these boxes normally good or is it how long before next box stuffs up ???? :confused:

Hi bigandgreedy can you tell me where you got your box from and how much, are you fitting it your self. Mine went yesterday well think its the box i can go thru all gears it is auto and it will just about move if i put revs on it wont,but its making this noise like something has broke and slipping would that be box or shaft maybe thanks.
 
buy cheap buy twice....:doh: got mine from ashcroft transmissions.

fully reconidtioned 12 months warranty spot on not to bad on price either.

Mine seems to have failed at 103K, won't know for sure until I have finished the electrical checks. Too dammed cold out there at the moment. Failure at such a low mileage seems pretty poor to me. I have another box on my spares dog with 147K on it, just not sure about swapping them on my back then finding out the replacement fails. Two boxes out and one in, easy with a lift and transmission jacks, defianately no fun on your back.:rolleyes:
 
i got my box from emmotts of clone 250+ 50 postage joe really helpfull bloke but must admit if my box goes again hopefully it wont im going for recon i think lot more expensive but 12 mnths warrentty and all new parts in the box
 
loss of forward drive probably easy fix first clutch pack just behind pump housing normal for diesel boxes
