Thanks for all the advice yesterday, I think that we may be getting somewhere. I pulled the delay relay timer when I got home last night and it’s not dropped at all overnight . I’m sure this means something to one of you with a much better understanding or these vehicles than me. Thanks for all the advice thus far guys.

Take the cover carefully off the delay relay and look for dry or broken solder joints.

I’ve done that and it looks good to me. It is old though, original I suspect, date on it is 18/01.

Well I’m at a bit of a loss now. I’ve just put the relay back in, the suspension didn’t move and I could drive straight off.

Were you parked on the flat? I had an issue where it dropped if I parked with a particular wheel hanging a bit lower than the others.

No my drive slopes down towards the house. I suppose the front of the car may be as much as 3 or 4 inches higher than the back when I park it up.

So what do you suggest I should do? Change it or just live with it?
Second hand relay from a breaker will eliminate that as the cause of your problem. I already had a spare relay from my scrapper, so it was an easy fix for me.

Okay, so you just changed yours out?
Yes, eventually when I have time I will look at repairing the old one which clearly has some defective solder joints.
No guarantee it will fix the problem, but it will at least eliminate the relay as a possible cause.
