Must be that time of year, mine's done exactly the same thing today! My guess is compressor seal is knackered, but gonna put it on computer when I get home and check fault codes.

Has anyone tried the "2nd generation" seal/ring combos on offer on ebay (from Netherlands I think), and whats their opinion of them??

I assume when you "sit there with the engine running" that you have got the doors shut? I reckon it could be a leaky airbag that leaks less when it has warmed up:eek:

How long do you leave it for and it goes down? And then may I ask how fast you go? How long you wait?
You should worry if this happens daily or within the day. If you leave the car for more than three days it can go down. Also, I believe it varies a lot if the ground is flat where you park it.
A very first quick suggestion is to check the rubber pipes at the back of the valve block. If you see they are moving (doggy) you may loose air from a connection to the valve block. Then the compressor may be doing over work.
Start from there....
Good luck

Hi I have a 2001 p38 my suspension as started to rise once driving for a short while to the upper position, some days it works fine then it will raise on its own.
also at random times it sits in access mode and takes a while to rise maybe ten minutes.no faults on dash tho

If it's from landroverwinkel then I have used their kit without problems:)

You would be better starting a new thread.
If it does not rise, either there is a leak or the compressor is fecked. If the airsprings are original they will be leaking, design life is 7/8 years 80K miles.
Random rising can be a dodgy height sensor, corroded connectors behind the kick panel in the passenger footwell, duff height switch etc.

hi thanks datatek, cant figure out how to start new thread I seem to be a muppet there.
as far as I know all air bags have been replaced.may be a strange question been as its a rangey, but does dirt affect the height sensor

Dirt does not affect the height sensors, water can though, the connectors can corrode.
Posting the same question on different threads will get you roasted.
Removing your caravan from the hitch will certainly cause the rear to rise and if a door is open it will stay up as any open door freezes the suspension.
You need to be sure about the airbags.

ok mate thanks, only posted to the other as I thought it was more relevant,i will check for corrosion. are the sensors and connectors easy to get at? i will clean all connectors over the weekend

On the inside of the chassis rails, one for each corner.
