Back in marshalls today for 3 days of diog work! Suspected driver pack /fuse box and will have the o rings on the valve block done for good measure, another hefty bill but it has to be fixed.

Well here we go again! Marshalls rang up today and aparantly the vehicle passed all landrovers tests perfectly. They then spoke to one of the top technicians at landrovers base and he told then to check the wireing loom for the eas around the pollen filter for corrosion. They found 3 bad terminals one had to be bypassed as it was so bad the other two were cleaned up. Now i had had water leakage in the footwell a year ago which was a leaky pollen filter housing and they new this so it seems to tally up with corroded loom terminals. Anyway its coming back tomorrow and we'll see what happens, only half an hour labour this time i pray this is an end to it!!!

I have a p38 range rover 2000 dhse. When i turn the ignition on all the lights of the air suspention indicator are on and stay on throughout my journey. The ride height is standard however I cannot adjust it by the up or down suspention button. Could anybody shed any light on this issue please?

You've got whats called a 'soft' fault. If your pretty handy at diy and computers you can get some sofware for your laptop to read and reset the fault from Rangerovers.net. If you're not then you'll have to get yourself to a specialist or main dealer to read the fault and reset it. Otherwise you'll pretty soon end up on the bumpstops in whats called a 'hard' fault.
Where are you, there might be someone near you with an EAS kicker who you could hook up with.
There are a few gadgets that have been developed for the P38, theres the Kicker from BBS (blackbox-solutions.com)- real good but a bit expensive and then theres th EAS buddy from roverrenovations.net or you can get the free diy one for your laptop as mentioned above. Imporatant to note that none of these fix the fault, you still have to fix it but they clear and reste the ECU.

Ok back to my eas problems please!!!!

Went to pick the rangie up from marshalls again, was greeted by happy smileing faces of the mechanic who worked on it and the workshop controller! Your vehicle is all fixed they said good old landrover told us what to do and we did it, small bill for labour £48 job done.
They pulled it up outside the showroom and brought me the keys, took my cash and i went out to my nice clean pe38. Started the engine and she went stright up to the wadeing setting and contiued to go up to the really high extended height as if she was grounded! I didn't even have time to put her in drive before she fell apart on me yet again.
Now in for more diagnosis but i suspect we are back to a new driver pack, we'll see.
Been offered an 04 autobiography with 68000 and full history today for £17000, guy wants to shift it quick as he has a special vehicle one on order from landrover, very tempted to cut and run from the p38 and its troubles!!!!

Ordered new driver for the eas today from famous four, aftermarket one but made by the same company who make landrover ones! £160, will fit on friday and see if it makes a differance, fingers crossed!

MARSHALL LANDROVER PETERBOROUGH rang me today to ask for their courtesy car back! After spending over £850 on not fixing my rangerover they said that if i was not buying yet more replacement parts from them i was not entitled to use their courtesy car even though they are being paid for all labour work. I think this is disgraceful and have now removed my rangerover from their site and taken it to a specialist who used to work for them! This once again shows how MARSHALL LANDROVER PETERBOROUGH FAIL TO IMPROVE THEIR SERVICE AND TREAT CUSTOMERS LIKE S**T! I will never take my vehicle back to them.

i have to ask, if the parts they fitted made no difference why didn't they remove them and refit the old parts?, they obviously weren't at fault!

i was a plumber for 20 years and gave it up a few months ago, if i fitted new parts to someones boiler and it didnt work, they wouldn't pay me, if they did they would expect a refund and i would have to refit the old parts and then look else where for the fault!

from what i been reading about your fault the fact theres no codes stored would indicate it dont think it doing anything wrong, so maybe its a wirring fault, wires shorting ouit to give you the high ride settings! look between dash switch and driver then driver to ECU maybe! just a thought!

Hi, thanks for your comments. Marshall landrover are not interested in giving refunds, they won't release your vehicle until you have paid the bills. Each time they tried to fix it they could not get it to faulter however, generally i got it to go wrong within two miles of their building sometimes right outside their front door. I supplied all the parts they fitted on their recommendation to fix the problem, nothing fixed it and i'm still with an eas problem £850 later. After they refused to leave the courtesy car with me (for not buying the parts they wrongly diagnosed from them) i removed the rangie to a specialist i know who used to work for them, it's just ongoing, driver pack arrived today from famous four and will be fitted monday, if that does not cure the problems its fuse box next. The wireing loom has been checked for the correct resistence and passed twice, the height switch has been removed and the fault still occurs. I will try the last two items to see if it fixes it beofre just giving up and putting up with the problem. We all know how badley these vehicles are dropping in price and throwing any more cash at it is just pointless, we'll see what happens next!!!!

Range rover now running fine with no sign of the eas fault now the new driver pack has been installed.
As per my previous posts MARSHALL LANDROVER PETERBOROUGH ARE THE WORST LANDROVER DEALER I HAVE EVER HAD THE MISFORTUNE TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH! It turns out that they repaired the pollen filter box on the passenger side while the vehicle was still under the 3 year manufacturer warranty, it then leaked again and they fixed it a second time however, because they did not dry out the eas wireing loom under said pollen filter box the terminals corroded and shorted out my driver pack. When the driver pack was removed the gel like substance over the printed circuit was cracked and showed signs of shorting out with black marks on the gel and small holes. In summing up MARSHALL LANDROVER PETERBOROUGH HAVE COST ME £1150 IN PARTS AND LABOUR FOR SOMETHING THEY SHOULD HAVE FIXED PROPERLY IN THE FIRST PLACE. Great.

Take them to County Court if you have good evidence to back up your claims, may get some of your money back.

Range rover has presented no eas faults since fitting the new driver pack! I sent a letter to the head of the marshall group in cambridge, he wrote back to say he would investigate what happened and be in contact further!
Today i recieved a letter from marshall peterborough saying basically they were now at fault. They say in the letter that they did their job properly and spent many more hours on my vehicle than i ever paid for, blameing me for telling them to fit the wrong parts to cure the problem when in fact their workshop controller told me everytime what to buy and in his words "it has to be this that's causing the fault"! I will ring mr marshall myself tuesday and find out why they are trying to shift the blame to me!
Thankyou to everyone on this site who tried to help me with this issue, we got it sorted in the end!

DAVID

I hope you get it sorted out.

Too many garages just seem to jump to a conclusion without thinking the problem through. They should not condemn a component before testing thoroughly and substituting with a known good item before costing you money.
I owned a domestic appliance radio and tv repair shop for 20 odd years and if I jumped to the same conclusions as the garages my customers would think I did not what I was doing.

We trust our garages too much, and expect the service enginers to have been trained to use the sophisticated test equipment, but there is no substitute for experience when it comes to engineering.

Keep fighting and get some of your money refunded. You have been treated very poorly.

Best of luck

Fred

this has got to go to court, they have charged you for labour that wasnt required! im sure theres a law against that somewhere! they couldnt do the job they took money to do!

Thanks guys for your posts on this, i will see what mr marshall has to say tuesday!
I can't believe i've just spent all this money getting the eas to work correctly and today the whole rangie is running terribly!
Please see my new post as to the now latest engine problem!
