The blowers do work - and they HEVAC blower control works too.
I just get varying degrees of power - all at ambient air temp.
The HEVAC buttons all appear to work, windscreen, feet, face etc all work as they should.
Can anyone reccomend a good garage in South East London / North Kent or beyond?
If all your getting is ambient air with no temperature changes (you'll notice when it gets hot obviously...) then the 2 temp blend motors are not moving to control the temperature.....

Get the codes read, and see what happens.

All I know was mates comp wasn't working and it was possible to make it be permanently on without the clutch presumably. When the compressor was replaced the spring was found in 4 pieces.

Not really surprising seeing as how the compressor is disengaged when the system is too hot or has too much pressure in it, to allow it to cool down. The compressor being perminently engaged has to break something.

I think yu misunderstumbles, Wammers. We thought the compressor might have been faulty and suspected the clutch (like the OP), so a short term solution was to lock the clutch so that it was permanently on. He then got cold air, so it proved the compressor was ok, but was causing the lack of air con. Unfortunately it appears yu can't just get the clutch, so he had to get a complete compressor.
I agree - not a job to do permanently, but it proved the fault was with the clutch and not the actual compressor....... So if any has a good clutch, but a fault compressor............

You can get just the clutch, around £100.00 though, or a second hand one from a breaker for a lot less.

Is there a pn, coz he nor I could find one? Mite help others.

It depends on make of compressor then you would have to look for parts for that Land rover won't do them. If it's a Denso look for Denso parts. The clutches are pretty standard on most models. Did i not say try Autocool they should have loads of used units.

Ok, no fault codes yet - But I've now checked the power going to the compressor - there isnt any.
The relays and fuses are all fine.

If the blend motors are donald ducked - would this stop the Air-Con coming on?

Shouldn't have thought so....

There are a number of reasons for no pawer to the Compressor Clutch....

The chief one being, HEVAC fault ...... if there is a stored fault, the system may not call for compressor, to prevent further damage etc....

Just because there is no power doesn't mean thats the problem....

Lack of system gas pressure, Tri position switch faulty ( or whatever it is called - the one that monitors Gas Pressure), Ambient Temperature sensor fault, Interior Temperature sensor fault....the list goes on....

Getting the coeds read is the first step on the line....

Is there a DIY finance level tool for reading the codes? Presumably an eGay special generic OBD2 reader isn't the right tool for the job...

i agree get the codes read if you can.

as i had no HEVAC erros on its display
I guessed at no pressure with mine and as halfords do a free check i used that to confirm.
changed the condenser and has it recharged and the system is all fine.
£80 condenser
£70 Halfords ful system check debug and regass.

christ - I think our definition of "DIY Finance" differers somewhat! ;)

With stealers charging £60 a pop to read fault codes, it soon pays for itself. Out here it's a 100 mile round trip to be screwed by the LR dealer who has no idea about the P38:)

£60 - that would be nice....

When I was calling round the local Main Stealers for a quote to diagnose and clear the ABS/HDC Fault on the L322 the prices were vastly different...

LR Dealer 1 - Near a large shopping Town - £57+VAT need the car for the whole day

LR Dealer 2 - Near a well known Race Course - £128+VAT need the car for the whole day

LR Dealer 3 - Along the Thames near another large shopping town - £138+VAT need the car for the whole day

LR Service Centre - Near a small historic town with a well known Amusement Park nearby - £108 incl. VAT, booked an hours time slot, staff with a brilliant sense of humour....

Guess where I choose??!!

Told you the L322 was expensive:behindsofa:
I reckon those dealers have been taking lessons from bankers on how to screw the punter:rolleyes:

some great help here !

Recently changed the condensor and dryer (on 2001MY P38) and had the system re-gassed today. the system shows no pressure leaks HOWEVER after the re-gas and pressure check the A/C techs called me over and said that the clutch wasnt engaging (no doubt thinking about rubbing their hands at the prospect of plenty of money coming their way).

i've just had a nose around on it after disconnecting / reconnecting the electrical plugs on the pressure sensors on the reciever/dryer and the clutch is engaging but turns off again after a few seconds, then engages again then shuts off.

my hunch is the pressure sensors.... anyone any thoughts ?

Think it maybe a good idea for Ant to talk to Storey Wilson.
Oh Tony, you are sooooo correct...these L322's are a minefield....

Been to LR Wednesday to recal the ride heights (Riding to low)
Going to LR again tomoz to look at another EAS Fault - think the compressor is tired....

£108 a time.....

For $198.95 (£150 odd) plus $38 Delivery, Plus Import duty....the whole lot for £183 ish is now looking like a fecking good idea....

Or relay or fuse box or HEVAC, needs to go on diagnostics:)
