Hello Chaps and Chapettes!

I've just bought my first Land Rover, a P38 4.6 Vouge! Spent £2000 on it with a clean MOT from October 2020.

The first car I ever drove was a P38 4.6 Autobiography in the mountains of Fujairah - It was one of four that my dad has owned over the years and will always remember being sat in his spare wheel on the bonnet of his Series 2a aka. "Boneshaker". The passion has been developed over many years and many family LRs.

Having grown up in the UAE I've been off roading since I was 13! Lucky me!

I'm buggering up my Mini Cooper S by taking it soft-roading so decided to bite the bullet.

Any suggestions or words of advice on the P38 will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Welcome aboard.

Any questions in the RR sexshun, P38's are good fun and very misunderstood.. ;)

Would probably be a tad cheaper to run in the UAE, petrol comes out the taps over there eh! ;) :D

Thanks! Luckily this will be my toy and not a daily driver! I'm sure I'll be asking rookie questions and p***ing people off in no time!

Welcome:)

Got any pics of your new love;) (P38)

I haven't even collected it yet! This is a picture of it from it's Ad but off to grab it on Sunday!

As I'm sure you'll guess by the fact I'm already on the forum - I'm VERY excited

Been looking for the right one for years!

Like the colour:)

hope it’s as you think, check everything against the add that works or don’t.
Good luck, I am sure you will be here asking, don’t worry plenty of knowledge to get the niggles sorted:)

Just enjoy the drive back:D:D

Thanks for the advice! It's a beaten up old girl that's mechanically good and MOT until Oct with no advisories

I do have one advantage over most - I buy and sell cars for a living! But finally grown the cohones to get my first LR though!

Seeming like a friendly bunch - Glad to be part of it!

Epsom green with lightstone.

nice.

18" hurricanes too.

Welcom to the P38 crowd. There are three things I would recommend you do to reduce the chances of being stranded somewhere with a car that will not drive:
1. Replace fuel pump as you don't know how old it is and they can fail suddenly without warning
2. Replace the driver's and possibly passenger's side door latches with new or rebuilt from Marty_NZ.
3. Get a working fob if you can.

Of course there are other things that can go wrong but these are reasonably easy things to deal with and prevent problems beforehand.
Good luck and enjoy.
